Are Leggings Pants

Leggings pants are not slippers:

Leggings are not slippers. They are an active pants friend, yes, but not pants that should be worn anywhere other than the gym. With their body-hugging style no-frills (which are really more straight when stretched than their wearer sometimes realizes),they look more like a pair of knit stockings, tights, pedal pushers or panty hose than pants and should be viewed as such. While I can hear the chorus of nay-sayers who vehemently disagree with my belief in leggings, I think we owe more to ourselves than just to focus on what's comfortable. As the fact is, there are plenty of similarly comfortable choices that look far more pulled-together than leggings with thin knits.

I'm not quite sure at what point the world has agreed that leggings fall into the ready-to - wear category, synonymous tights, panty hose with anything from khakis,to denim; nevertheless, something that hangs on like a second skin and makes up 100 percent of spandex is not the same thing, even though it does cover similar properties on your body as your more fitted equivalent. A mixture of the Kardashians and the recent exponential increase in fitness emphasis led to the trend-of-sorts. And, while I completely support both the Calabasian-born monarchy and an active lifestyle, leggings like pants are not anything I can get behind.

"Some girls probably shouldn't wear them." ( Tights )

A little over two years ago, two girls made headlines when United Airlines refused them entry to a flight when their leggings were deemed to be inappropriate clothing descriptions. The airline says that the girls were "passenger passengers" or workers and their families traveling free of charge through corporate benefits, and that they had to dress up more professionally than others while flying. Let's be clear: I strongly disagree with the airline's response to the issue — for more reasons than I can fit in this post, and then some — but it poses an important question about how we can all deal with ourselves when it comes to the picture we are projecting to the world.

There are only two exceptions that I can see to this particular fashion rule for leggings pants(yes, that's right: I call it a statute. ...). The first one? If you're really on your way to or from a workout, wear those leggings in transit. There's no reason for you to pack an extra change of clothes just so your legs can see the light of the day before or after you go to the gym. The second one is very similar. If you're a studio owner, a yoga instructor, a personal trainer, and the like, find leggings as a uniform. You're wearing all the cutest styles, you know more about fit and material than any of us, and you have an arsenal of leggings that would rival even Kim K. You're golden, you're still rocking that look.

But let's bring it back to the core question here: Are leggings pants?

Now, I understand the appeal of the leggings pants are not slippers — I do. They 're fast, they 're comfortable, they don't need to be squeezed with, and they're a no-brainer outfit. The thing is, though: you're expected to worry more about what you wear than that. Yeah, pajamas check all of the boxes listed above, but you don't see adults dining with their appeal flannels, do you?

Whether it's super-stretch jeans, cashmere joggers, wide-leg trousers, or the like, there are a lot of different "comfortable" choices instead of leggings. Along, some "comfy" trousers that are — you got it — not leggings, too.
